HP Officejet 5740
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

How can I scan multiple pages into one pdf file with my HP Officejet 5740 printer?  After I save the first scanned page, there is no option for me to choose continue with the next page.

Hi,

Please try

Double click printer icon on desktop,
Select Scan a Document or Photo,
Put the first page on the glass (face down),
Check options (size, dpi ...), and select Scan document to file,
Click Scan - machine will scan the first page
Remove the first page on the glass, put the second page,
Click + (plus sign) It sits on the left hand side of a red x
Machine will scan the second page, put 3rd page on the glass and click + again ..... to the end  then click Save
 Click Done after Save

Regards.

Hello Bahien:  Thank you for your response, but the HP scan dialog box that comes up on my screen does not have the "Scan document to file" option and after I scan one page, there is no "+" to advance to the next page.

How can I send you a screen shot?

Should I download a newer version of the HP Officejet 5740 Printer SW?

That doesn't work - is there no way to scan multiple pages into one pdf doc on a Mac?

HP Recommended

Does not work.  Double-clicking on my desktop only opens a dialog box asking me to run setup.  It's already set up and connected to the network.  HP Scan dialog box does not have a + sign anywhere and is no longer accessible once the first page is scanned.

In my HP Scan software the plus ( + ) sign icon is on the bottem left corner of the window.  The icon is next to and icon with an X.

I've tried  using the flat bed option and ensuring the resolution is <300 DPI but I don't get the redX or any other indication to add additional pages.

Changing the original just creates another single page scan.

I've tried everything I can think of ..... any other suggestions?

Hello, @JAR4

Thanks for reaching out!

I see that you are having issues while scanning multiple pages using your Officejet 5740 printer. Did you try using the HP Scan software from the computer?

Try the steps below:

  • Insert the pages in the ADF (Automatic document feeder) of your printer or in the scanner bed.
  • Now open the “HP Scan” on your computer. You can double-click on the printer icon on your desktop to get the HP Scan if it’s not a shortcut on your desktop.
  • You can check this video for instructions: http://bcove.me/p1clcd0f

Alternatively, please check http://hp.care/2f9JtJe for detailed steps on HP scan.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers 🙂

Make sure the scan resolution is set to 300 DPI or less (I found this in some instructions just by chance, but it works)

Make sure the scan resolution is set to 300 DPI or less. If you don't none of this will work.
